Web hosting control panel update - E-mail filters and SPAM protection added

Publish Date: Saturday, July 03, 2004

After numerous requests from our free reseller hosting program members and their clients, Resellers Panel is happy to announce that 2 new e-mail features have been added to the Web Hosting Control Panel - "Mail Filters" and "Spam Protection". Both have been added and can be accessed through the "E-mail Manager" section of the Control Panel. "Mail Filters" and "Spam Protection" can easily be configured using the available Web Hosting Control Panel options to find and redirect or delete unwanted e-mail messages. The vast diversity of the features' options guarantees almost 100% spam protection. Since users can select the level of protection in the "Spam Protection" section, they can experiment with the appropriate level of spam protection they require, based on the results from changing from one level to another. "Mail Filters" is also a very powerful anti-spam tool. Users can set different mail rules, which can either delete or redirect unsolicited e-mail which do not match the user-defined rules. When entering the "Mail Filters" section, users can see all added mail rules, change their priorities, edit the existing rules, or delete a mail filter.

Using the "Spam Protection" section of the Resellers Panel Web Hosting Control Panel, users can further their mail aliases protection again unwanted, unsolicited and even virus infected mail messages. The "Spam Protection" section of the Resellers Panel web hosting accounts can be set to 5 different levels of protection - Very Low, Low, Medium, High and Very High. Once users define which e-mails should be spam protected and the spam protection level, they have to choose what action should be taken once an e-mail message has been detected as spam. It can either be deleted or redirected to another mailbox so users can view the message itself.

Since both of the new Resellers Panel sections offer some degree of spam protection, users can experiment with the new features to receive perfect anti-spam results. For example, a user receive 1000 or more e-mail messages a day, but only 10 of these e-mails are not spam. In that case, the user should set his "Spam Protection" level to a higher level. The "Very Low" level of "Spam Protection" guarantees a user that about 25% of all spam e-mail messages will be deleted or redirected to another mailbox. For the "Low" level of "Spam Protection" the number is around 35%, for the "Medium" level - 50%, the "High" "Spam Protection" level clears out around 65% of unsolicited or virus infected e-mail messages, and the highest level of protection - "Very High" guarantees around 95% spam detection and removal.*

The other example would be for a user who would only like to receive e-mail messages from specific senders, or with a specific, pre-defined subject. In that case he can set various e-mail rules by using the "Mail Filters" section of the Resellers Panel Web Hosting Control Panel. The user can, for example, set a message rule, which only permits e-mail messages from certain senders. That way all e-mails coming from senders with a different e-mail address will either be deleted or redirected to a pre-defined user mailbox. This makes for a powerful sorting tool. Users can define different mailboxes for e-mail messages coming from different senders. For example, if a user has signed up for a mailing list, he can set up a rule which redirects all incoming mail-list e-mails to a specific mailbox. Another example would be if the user wants to redirect all incoming mails from colleagues sharing the same mail domain to a specific mailbox. The massive amount of options the Resellers Panel "Mail Filter" Web Hosting Panel section offers can be used in many various way, not only as a further spam protection option, but also as a great e-mail sorting feature.

An activated high level of "Spam Protection", combined with the "Mail Filter" ability to rule out certain messages (not) containing specific words, word patterns, subjects or senders, guarantees almost 100% spam removal.

* The figures published here are based entirely on the result of our extensive tests. The numbers mentioned can vary from user to user and are entirely conditional. The figures stated here should not be taken for granted, as unsolicited and virus-infected e-mail follows very different patterns, which are sometimes unforeseeable and undetectable.
