Our reseller web hosting marketing team is happy to announce the release of the new domain extension .ME.UK that has been made available for registration through the Web Hosting Control Panel. The management of the .ME.UK domains is similar to that of the rest of the .UK TLDs that we offer for registration - .CO.UK and .ORG.UK. As you have probably noticed, all domains belonging to the .UK TLD are characterized with the same special features, of which worth mentioning are:

• registration period - 2 years
• renewal available for a period of 2 years
• renewal requests accepted only within 5 months of the expiration date, not earlier or after
• the WHOIS information cannot be changed directly from the Control Panel. The UK registry, Nominet, should be contacted by the domain name owner whenever the information in the WHOIS field needs to be modified. That is because such changes are considered as formal transfers and there are certain fees payable to Nominet.

What other TLDs are to be released shortly?
Soon to come are the long expected .EU and .DE top-level domains. A review of their most common characteristics includes:

.DE - The TLD for Germany - probably the country's best-selling TLD lately. However, the registry of this domain, DENIC, has set a specific condition referring to the registrant's address information that has to be presented at the time of registration. According to that condition, it is requested, when entering the administrative contact information, a street address or P.O. Box within Germany to be given, in order for the registration to be approved. There is no WHOIS /ID Protection service available for .DE domain names and the registration period is optional to choose from 1 to 10 years.

.EU - The .EU TLD is the generally accepted TLD for the European Union and, thus, can be registered by any person or organization established within the European Community. Registration of .EU domain names is available for 1 year only, afterwards renewal is possible for the same period. Similar to the rest of the ccTLDs (country code domain names), WHOIS / ID Protection is not supported.
